Focal Points (FPs) are local coordinators of WITT trainings who also belong to a women’s organization in the region. They mobilize, plan, organize the WITT trainings are relevant ICT issues in their regions. More trainings are needed of ICTs for strategic use by representatives of women and social/human rights NGOs.
WITT will be an important pool for sharing ideas in the different countries as more visibility in the work of other countries is needed. In order for WITT to reach as many women and women’s groups as possible and to decentralize the project, focal points represent WITT in their country and carry out activities in relevant to local needs. Focal points are the bridge between the regional coordinating body Core Group [1] and national representation.
The Focal Points work closely with the WITT coordinator and Core Group. In other words, the focal points build a network of women representatives that exist and communicate via the internet (e-mail and webpage, for example). Also, the purpose and responsibility of the focal points are to work within their country and across boarders, in this way they can mobilize other women and their organizations to become a part of WITT. Every year new Focal Points will be chosen.
