A research focusing on electronic industry in Poland shows that improvements of working conditions are very much needed. Call for Submissions: "Feminist Grassroots Media in Europe: An anthology"
11ти февруари 2008

Women have always played an important role in movements for social justice. Using media to transport their messages, to disrupt social orders and spin novel social processes, feminists have long recognised the importance of self-managed media to forge resistant identities and build coalitions. In fact, as Annabelle Sreberny-Mohammadi has found, "almost by dint of their existence alone, autonomous media controlled by women with women-defined output offer a challenge to existing hierarchies of power; when these media take up specific issues and campaigns, and align themselves with larger social movements, their political potential is significant" (1996:234).

The 11th AWID International Forum on Women’s Rights and Development: "The Power of Movements" (Call for proposals)
14ти януари 2008

Some of the most profound changes in our world have come about as a result of struggles in the form of social movements. Often, these movements germinated in a handful of people who rose up against an entrenched injustice, then blossomed into mass mobilizations that have ended up toppling governments, deposing powerful leaders, ending military occupations, and bringing rights and freedoms to millions of people. This is the power of movements - what people without access to power cannot accomplish alone, they can accomplish together through collective action.
